Coyotes Trade Torres to San Jose for Third-Round Draft Choice in 2013

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have acquired a third-round draft choice (via Florida Panthers) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Raffi Torres.

In 28 games with the Coyotes this season, Torres has collected 5-7-12 and 13 PIM. In 619 career NHL games with the New York Islanders, Edmonton, Columbus, Buffalo, Vancouver, and Phoenix, Torres has posted 132-117-249 and 486 PIM.

Torres signed with Phoenix as a free agent on July 1, 2011.

Coyotes Recall Brown, Conner from AHL

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled forwards Chris Brown and Chris Conner from the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Brown made his NHL debut with the Coyotes on March 4 against the Anaheim Ducks. Brown became just the fifth player from Texas to play in the NHL. In 63 games with the Pirates this season, he has registered 25-15-40 and 94 penalty minutes. Brown leads the team in goals and is tied for third in points. He ranks ninth in the AHL in goals and his 12 power-play goals are tied for the third most in the league.

The 22-year-old native of Flower Mound, Texas was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the second round (36th overall) in the 2009 Entry Draft.

The 5-foot-8, 190-pound Conner has appeared in 60 games with the Pirates this season totaling 13-27-40 and 28 PIM. He ranks third on the team in assists and tied for third in points.

The 29-year-old native of Westland, Mich., has collected 17-26-43 and 30 PIM in 147 career NHL games with the Dallas Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings. He played in a career-high 60 NHL games with the Penguins in 2010-11 and recorded 7-9-16.

Conner signed with the Coyotes as a free agent on July 2, 2012.

Coyotes Acquire McMillan from Anaheim for Lombardi

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have acquired left wing Brandon McMillan from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for center Matthew Lombardi.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound McMillan has played in six games with the Ducks this season registering one assist. He also has recorded 8-5-13 and 42 penalty minutes (PIM) in 41 games with the Norfolk Admirals (AHL).

The 23-year-old native of Richmond, British Columbia has recorded 11-15-26 and 40 PIM in 91 career NHL games with Anaheim. McMillan was originally drafted by the Ducks in the third round (85th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

In 21 games with the Coyotes this season, Lombardi has posted 4-4-8. He has registered 101-161-262 in 529 career NHL games with Calgary, Phoenix, Nashville and Toronto. Lombardi was originally drafted by Calgary in the third round (90th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Coyotes Trade Sullivan to New Jersey for Seventh-Round Draft Choice in 2014

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have acquired a seventh-round draft choice in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for forward Steve Sullivan.

In 33 games with the Coyotes this season, Sullivan has collected 5-7-12 and 20 PIM. In 1,002 career NHL games with New Jersey, Toronto, Chicago, Nashville, Pittsburgh, and Phoenix, Sullivan has posted 288-454-742 and 583 PIM.

Sullivan signed with Phoenix as a free agent on July 4, 2012.

Coyotes Acquire Tobias Rieder

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have acquired forward Tobias Rieder from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for forward Kale Kessy.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Rieder recorded 27-29-56 and 12 penalty minutes (PIM) in 52 games with the Kitchener Rangers (Ontario Hockey League) this season. In 2011-12, the Landshut, Germany native collected 42-42-84 and 25 PIM in 60 games with the Rangers. He led the OHL with 13-14-27 in 16 postseason games last season.

Rieder was originally drafted by the Oilers in the fourth round (114 overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

In 31 games with the Kamloops Blazers (Western Hockey League), Kessy recorded 12-13-25 and 44 PIM this season.

Coyotes Recall C. Johnson from AHL

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled goaltender Chad Johnson from the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Johnson made two starts for the Coyotes this season posting a 1-0-1 record with a 0.98 goals against average (GAA) and .952 save percentage (SV %). He earned his first career NHL shutout on Jan. 28 vs. Nashville when he made 21 saves.

Johnson has appeared in 32 games with the Pirates this season posting a 16-13-1 record with a 2.87 GAA and .909 SV %.

In 2011-12, the 26-year-old native of Calgary, Alberta notched a 22-18-6 record with a 2.49 GAA and .919 SV% in 49 games with the Connecticut Whale (AHL). Johnson was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fifth round (125th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Coyotes Assign Summers to AHL

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned defenseman Chris Summers to the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

The 6-foot-2, 209-pound Summers has played in six games with the Coyotes this season. He has also appeared in 47 games with the Pirates in 2012-13 collecting 2-9-11 and 47 PIM. Summers has posted 0-3-3 and 24 PIM in 29 career NHL games.

The 25-year-old native of Ann Arbor, Michigan was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (29th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft.
